In great news for skiers and snowboarders heading to Zermatt next winter, a new airline has confirmed it will be flying from the UK to Sion airport in Switzerland.

Starting in December PowdAir will run 40 flights per week from eight UK airports to Sion. Additionally, the airline will run flights from Rotterdam and Brussels to Sion.

How much does it cost to fly from the UK to Sion airport?

Flight times will vary from 1h25m to 2h from the UK, flying on a Fokker 100 plane.  Prices are likely to be in the region of £100-£150 per person each way, which will include free ski carriage.  Tickets will be available to buy online from April 2017 at www.powdair.ski

 

 

How long is a transfer from Sion to Zermatt?

Flying to Sion cuts your transfer time down to Zermatt significantly. Depending on how you travel, it will take 1h15m (by car) to 2h (by train) to reach resort.

Helicopter transfer to Zermatt

Swiss Airlines flights to Sion

Last month Swiss Air started flying test flights from London Heathrow into Sion Airport. They flew every Saturday during February. The initial flight was 80% full, but Swiss have not yet confirmed if they will continue these flights next season.
