The Best Vegan Restaurants in Zermatt

Many of our guests like to know if there are any vegan restaurants in Zermatt, or if it’s possible to buy vegan food in the shops in Zermatt if you are self-catering.

Although Switzerland does not have a reputation for vegan and vegetarian food, you might be surprised to learn that there is a reasonable choice of vegan restaurants in Zermatt.  And when you extend that to vegetarian restaurants, Zermatt has even more options.

Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in Zermatt

For guests eating out there are a number of vegan restaurants in Zermatt and a larger choice of vegetarian options. In no particular order, these are some that are available in the resort:

The Bubble
This simple, trendy restaurant mainly offers burgers and Indian fusion food, but their menu includes a veggie burger that can be prepared vegan upon request, salads, samosas and a tasty vegetable korma curry.

The Pipe

The Pipe offers a modern Afro-Indian fusion menu, including a wine list of award-winning South African wines. Their recipes are inspired by a tribal past and have both vegan and vegetarian friendly choices. The pipe will also prepare a special meal for you to your requirements – you just need to ask!

The falafel wrap or Thai vegetable noodles – fresh vegetables stir fried with ginger, garlic and soy sauce finished with a Thai chili and coriander sauce, and tossed with egg noodles – are both popular options.

China Garden

Chinese restaurants are often a good option for vegans and the China Garden is one of the best vegan restaurants in Zermatt.

There couldn’t be more contrast between the traditional Swiss cuisine and the spicy and exotic specialities prepared by their Chinese staff in this modern restaurant. Head Chef Chen Lijun and the China Garden Team have been been awarded 14 Gault Millau points.

Grampis

This more traditional restaurant has a vegetarian menu with a great selection of Italian vegetarian dishes. Why not try their vegetable salad with balsamic and pesto, rocket and Parmesan?

Other vegan restaurants in Zermatt include Gee’s, a small boutique venue with some vegan options. Try their Superfood Salad, with quinoa, avocado, olives, feta cheese, nuts, seeds, fruit and mixed salad leaves with honey and mustard dressing.
