Matterhorn Chalets Guarantee ‘Proper’ Toblerone

After the recent announcement that Toblerone are to reduce the number of triangles per bar of Toblerone, Matterhorn Chalets have stepped in to reassure their customers.

Ed Mannix – owner of Matterhorn Chalets – confirmed that all chalet guests this winter will be able to enjoy ‘proper’ bars of this iconic and Matterhorn-inspired chocolate bar while on holiday in Zermatt this winter:

“As a Zermatt-based company, of course we love Toblerone. The Matterhorn features on the packaging and every triangular shaped piece reminds us of our favourite mountain.”

“We are campaigning to ‘Save Our Toblerone’ – but in the meantime all guests will not have to ‘mind the gap’ this winter.”

‘One of the dumbest corporate decisions of all time’

The Matterhorn Chalets were horrified to learn that the current owners – Mondelez – have decided to cut the weight of its bars due to the higher costs of ingredients.

It’s a move that some fans of Toblerone have described as ‘one of the dumbest corporate decisions of all time’ and indeed if they’d announced the change on April 1st then it would be less surprising.

You may have read our previous blog on the origins of this iconic chocolate bar, first created by Theodor Tobler in 1908, and know we are fans.
