Luxury chalet in multilingual Zermatt

How do you say “Luxury Zermatt chalet” in the local lingo!

Multilingual canton and country

Ever thought it strange how in Zermatt, they speak German (sort of…), whilst just along the Rhone Valley in Sierre, they speak French? And both places are not only in the same country but also in the same canton.

 Separated by a river…

Well, that’s just one of the wonders of Switzerland but any way, here are some pictures of the linguistic boarder or “röstigraben” (rösti- trench) as it is affectionately known where it follows the Raspille river that separates the municipalities of Miège and Salgesch in the Canton of Valais.

Eat real rösti!

Why not come to Zermatt and eat real rösti and hear unintelligible Zermatter-german next winter.
