Is there a Tesla or Electric Vehicle charger in Zermatt?

It is possible to use a Tesla and electric vehicle charger on your holiday to Zermatt.

However, while Zermatt is full of electric vehicles [find out more about Zermatt’s electric taxis], the irony is that you can’t drive your EV into resort, as no private cars are allowed.

All drivers have to leave their vehicles parked in Täsch and then take the connecting train or a taxi to Zermatt.

In this blog we look at the current five options (as at July 2021) to charge your Tesla or other electric vehicle on a trip to Zermatt:

1. Parking Taxi Christophe

Parking Taxi Christophe has one Type 2 Tesla charger outdoors, that will also work with other EVs using the same connection. In addition, they have another three chargers indoors, all suitable for Teslas.

To park here, you need to take your onward transfer to Zermatt with Taxi Christophe. If you charge, they will then move and re-park your car once it is fully charged.

2. Parkhaus Schaller

There is are two Tesla chargers in Täsch, delivering 22Kwh, located at the Parkhaus Schaller (Tel: +41 27 967 40 30).

To park here, you need to take your onward transfer to Zermatt with Taxi Rocky.

3. Matterhorn Terminal Täsch

This is the main car park for guests heading to Zermatt. There are 2100 covered parking spaces, and as of December 2022, there are now 131 dedicated EV charging spots.

It is Switzerland’s largest range of e-charging stations in a public car park. The electricity comes from 100% hydropower.

The electric charging stations are equipped with a type 2 plug, a seven meter cable and a charging capacity of up to 22 kW. The car park is open 24/7 365 days a year.

4. Alpen Hotel, Täsch

There are three Type 2 chargers at the Alpen hotel, suitable for Teslas and other vehicles. The chargers are only available for guests of the hotel.

5. Welcome Parking, Täsch

This has two Type 2 chargers under cover. They are available for anyone leaving their vehicle at Welcome Parking while on their visit in Zermatt.

Driving in the snow
