Cross Country skiing in Zermatt, Switzerland

Known principally as an Alpine ski resort, Zermatt also offers attractive options for cross country skiing at their ‘Langlauf’ facility at Täsch, just down the valley from the main resort.

Cross Country is a popular alternative to piste skiing, particularly as it is accessible to people of all ages and levels of fitness.

18km of cross country trails

There are 8 km of classic trails between Täsch and Randa and 10km of skating trails and the flat terrain in Täsch is perfect for beginners.

More experienced cross country skiers can enjoy a steady outing. Or, if you’ve been inspired by the Beijing Winter Olympics, then push yourself to ski around at pace!

Cross Country Lessons in Zermatt

Beginners and improvers can book lessons with an instructor to learn the appropriate techniques. There are cross-country skiing courses in both the classic and skating styles.

Lessons are offered by the Stoked Ski School – Ed Mannix, director of Matterhorn Chalets – is a Stoked instructor who also specialises in Cross Country skiing.

These can be booked directly with the school or for guests staying with Matterhorn Chalets, we can book this for you via our concierge service.

The Nordic Centre is located on the main concourse of Täsch railway station  and has all the required equipment available to hire. Opening hours are from 1030 to 1530 each day. Täsch can be reached from Zermatt in 12 minutes by rail.
