After more than two years of construction, the Matterhorn Express valley station has been completed without interrupting any operations.
The modern building features many traditional wooden elements and is complemented by the blue of Zermatt Bergbahnen.
In addition to the ground-level and barrier-free access to both the lift, the new valley station has been upgraded further. A new glass canopy facing Schluhmattstrasse now protects guests from the weather and provides more comfort in the queuing area.
In addition, a large LED wall and other digital screens in the lift entrance area provide guests with important lift status information in real time.
The ground floor and first floor offer new ski lockers that can be used to store equipment and there are also spacious washroom facilities on the first floor.
The Matterhorn Express is the starting point for the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing – a once-in-a-generation project that officially opened last summer when the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II 3S cableway went into operation on 01 July 2023.
