‘TourCert’ promotes responsible tourism in Switzerland, to ensure that future generations can also enjoy and explore our planet.

Zermatt prioritises sustainability

Zermatt has always prioritised sustainability – something we have featured on our blog before. The use of electric vehicles, solar power, train travel and renewables has always put the resort ahead of the curve for environmental actions.

This new certification sets an important benchmark for the progress of the Zermatt Bergbahnen’s economic, ecological and social sustainability, showing that the company is committed to issues such as environmental protection and fair working conditions.

‘Level III’ Swisstainable 

TourCert certification is equivalent to ‘Level III’ of the Swisstainable sustainability program, which Zermatt also participates in. Zermatt is also a recognised ‘Energiestadt’ (Energy Town).
