Sommelier of the Year
Peter Zimmermann of Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof was honoured as Sommelier of the Year 2023.
He scored 16 GaultMillau points for his expert wine pairing—earning acclaim for his deep insights into Valais vintages and his standout tasting menus.

Top-Ranked Restaurants in Valais
Two Zermatt restaurants maintained their elite status with 17-point ratings: After Seven at the Backstage Hotel, led by Florian Neubauer and Patrik Simon, and Ristorante Capri at Mont Cervin Palace, under Salvatore Elefante and Giuseppe Parisi were both acknowledged among the canton’s very best.
Recognition for Stafelalp
Joining the ranks for the first time is Maison Matthiol at Stafelalp, which was awarded 13 points, adding a new face to Zermatt’s gastronomic offerings.

In total, Zermatt has 21 restaurants featured in the GaultMillau Swiss Guide, accumulating an impressive 298 points.
