Zermatt is such a great destination for children for a summer (and winter) holiday.
Regular visitors to our blog will know about the fantastic Wolli Card, which gives children under 9 years of age free travel on the lifts as well as many other discounts in resort.
Families will also want to try out two fantastic playgrounds during their visit. In Zermatt, there are two beautiful playground areas above Sunegga — the Wolli Wonderland and the Lake Leisee Adventure Park — which stand out as must-visit summer escapes for families.
Wolli Wonderland
Wolli Wonderland is a 2km interactive walking trail featuring seventeen fun puzzle stations which tell the story of Wolli – the black-faced sheep mascot of Zermatt – to find his missing friend Mitza the cat.
Lake Leisee Adventure Playground
Just a few minutes from the top station of Sunnegga’s funicular station, the Leisee area boasts a fantastic lakeside playground.
It recently reopened in June 2025 with even better features including towers connected by rope bridges and ladders themed as a funicular railway and an ‘eagle’s nest’ lookout.

The children can also enjoy trampolines, swings, slides and hammocks. For even more fun, add a swim in Leisee’s shallow waters or try the cable-pulled raft across the lake.
Both playgrounds are easily reached via the Sunnegga funicular and are accessible with push chairs.
In addition to the Wolli Card, children up to 15 travel free with a companion on Zermatt’s mountain cars via the Junior & Children Travelcard.
