Marco Odermatt, the 2025 Downhill, Super G and GS Crystal Globe winner, is currently preparing for the new season of racing in Zermatt.
The Glacier Matterhorn Paradise offers skiing all year round on the Theodul Glacier and is in demand as a summer training ground for speed specialists.
As well as last year’s Overall Season Title holder Marco Odermatt, his teammate Thomas Tumler and other members of the Swiss team have joined him on the glacier.

Exclusive use for the Swiss team
Swiss Ski recently signed an exclusive contract with Zermatt – giving them sole management of Europe’s only summer downhill run – extending through to 2034.
Walter Reusser, head of Swiss Ski, believes that this exclusivity gives his athletes a vital advantage over other competitors as climate change makes training elsewhere increasingly unpredictable.
As the agreement stands, teams from other major ski nations are barred from accessing the slope before October each year.
Zermatt to host World Cup races
It’s particularly relevant as Zermatt will host World Cup races in March 2027 on the new Gornergrat run.
Zermatt is constantly investing in new lifts and the resort is planning a new gondola from Gornergrat (3089m) to Stockhorn (3532m) to replace the old one which stopped operating in 2007.
