Zermatt named Best Ski Area in the Alps (again!)

The Matterhorn Ski Paradise in Zermatt has again been named the best ski area in the Alps.

The ‘Best Ski Resort’ report is the largest independent guest satisfaction study in the Alps, and is carried out every two years.

Zermatt V's St Moritz ski area

Back at Number 1

After wins in 2014 and 2016 and finishing in second place in 2018, Zermatt is once again on top of the podium in 2020.

During the 2019/20 winter season, almost 40,000 snowsports enthusiasts in over fifty of ski resorts were surveyed on twenty criteria for satisfaction. Categories ranged from the size of the area to the quality of the slopes and the ambience in resort.

Zermatt won in eight categories

Zermatt won in eight categories, including safety on the slopes, ambience, authenticity, cosiness, exclusivity, ski school, nature experience and fun/entertainment.

This resulted in an overall score of 8.63 (out of 10), putting Zermatt at the top of the list.

“We are extremely pleased to have received the award for Best Ski Resort for the third time, especially since this is based on the honest evaluations of our international guests.”

“We take this award as confirmation that we will continue to invest in the quality of our services and transport systems, for example in the new Kumme gondola or in the Alpine Crossing project.”

Markus Hasler, CEO of Zermatt Bergbahnen AG

Zermatt is already open for skiing
